Martine Hansen meets representatives of Baueren-Allianz

While the meeting provided an opportunity to discuss common priorities and topical issues, Martine Hansen stated from the outset that she wanted "to be closer to the agricultural sector" and "to give priority to simplifying administrative procedures in order to ease the burden on farmers". According to the Minister, the challenges of digitalisation in agriculture are considerable, but progress will have to be made step by step.

Martine Hansen intends to address the environmental issues of importance to the sector at the first "Landwirtschaftsdësch" consultation meeting on 4 March 2024, together with representatives of farming organisations and the Minister of the Environment, Climate and Biodiversity, Serge Wilmes.

When asked about the targets for reducing ammonia emissions in the agricultural sector, Martine Hansen wants to focus on all possible technological solutions.

In terms of limiting the transport of live animals, the representatives of the Baueren-Allianz and the Minister are in line with their ambitious position, given that Luxembourg has banned the export of animals for slaughter to third countries.

Other topics included the development of market gardening and fruit growing through better access to water, soil protection, support for young active farmers, the promotion of local and organic agricultural products, and the fight against food waste.
